Quantum Phase Transitions induced by Infinite Dilution in the Fock Space: a General Mechanism. Proof and discussion

چکیده

We show that lattice quantum systems may undergo a first-order quantum phase transition through a general mechanism which consists in an infinite dilution of the state associated to (or, more in general, near to) the lowest energy levels. The equation giving the critical point is derived and discussed at several degrees of generalizations: given an infinitesimal portion of the Fock space, i.e., the cavity space, and its complement, i.e., the reservoir space, in the thermodynamic limit, a first-order quantum phase transition takes place when the cavity and reservoir energies are equal. A comparison with some particular exact solvable cases as, e.g., the Quantum Rem model, is made.  Quantum phases and fluctuations in correlated electron systems with frustration and competing interactions are reviewed. In the localized moment case the S=1/2 J1 - J2 - model on a square lattice exhibits a rich phase diagram with magnetic as well as exotic hidden order phases due to the interplay of frustration and quantum fluctuations. Their signature in magnetocaloric quantities and the hig...

Computing equations of state for ionic solids

Two diierent theoretical approaches to the total energy of solids have been applied to describe the equations of state (EOS) of ionic halides and oxides. The rst one is the ab initio Perturbed Ion (aiPI) model, a quantum-mechanical technique that solves the Hartree-Fock equations of a crystal in a localized Fock space. The second one is an interatomic force model implemented in a new computatio...

Character Formula for Infinite Dimensional Unitarizable Modules of the General Linear Superalgebra

The Fock space of m+p bosonic and n+q fermionic quantum oscillators forms a unitarizable module of the general linear superalgebra glm+p|n+q. Its tensor powers decompose into direct sums of infinite dimensional irreducible highest weight glm+p|n+q-modules. We obtain an explicit decomposition of any tensor power of this Fock space into irreducibles, and develop a character formula for the irredu...

Investigating the Effect of Fullerene on the Basicity of Paraphenylenediamine by using the Quantum Chemistry Methods

In this study, paraphenylenediamine was first bonded to the fullerene and was optimized geometrically by Using the quantum chemistry methods. paraphenylenediamine was examined in the isolated state and in the fullerene-bonded state via carbon atoms. In the theoretical research, the simulation was done by the Gauss View software. Then, the bonding orbital calculation was done by using the NBO me...

Nonequilibrium Quantum Dynamics of Second Order Phase Transitions

We use the so-called Liouville-von Neumann (LvN) approach to study the nonequilibrium quantum dynamics of time-dependent second order phase transitions. The LvN approach is a canonical method that unifies the functional Schrödinger equation for the quantum evolution of pure states and the LvN equation for the quantum description of mixed states of either equilibrium or nonequilibrium. As nonequ...
